Types of volunteering roles
This role involves helping patients take part in a range of therapeutic, educational and support activities. Volunteers support both group sessions and one-to-one activities. They help to improve patients' wellbeing during their time in healthcare settings or community venues.
You will work closely with clinical staff to help deliver these activities effectively - whether patients are in inpatient units, outpatient settings, or at the Willow Therapy Unit.

Dental volunteers support the Dental HealthCare Team. The help to ensure that patients attending appointments have a positive experience, collecting feedback, as well as assisting with admin tasks and supporting staff during the working day.

Infant feeding peer support volunteers provide valuable emotional and practical infant feeding support to parents. Empower parents to reach their own infant feeding goals, and need to be able to listen, empathise and support others in a sensitive and non-judgemental way.
They help to promote and normalise breastfeeding/chestfeeding and support all infant feeding parents. This includes parents who are formula feeding, mixed feeding and introducing or feeding solid foods. Volunteers will attend community groups across the region to offer support and information to parents around all aspects of infant feeding.

Meet and greet volunteers provide a friendly, reassuring, and professional welcome to visitors at our sites. They help ensure that everyone arriving at our facilities feels supported and directed efficiently.

Patient support volunteers offer companionship and support to patients during their stay in healthcare settings. They help with basic non-clinical tasks that enhance the patient experience. For example chatting with patients, helping them feel more comfortable, and offering a friendly presence.
Volunteers also support healthcare teams by gathering patient feedback and contacting patients ahead of their visits - contributing to the overall quality of care and patient satisfaction.

Work experience
Volunteering is different to work experience.
For our volunteering roles, we ask you to commit to volunteering regularly for a minimum of 6 months and undertake recruitment checks before you get started.
Work experience is a short term opportunity where you can spend time with our teams observing their roles.
