Norfolk Community Podiatry (foot health) Service

Podiatry is a branch of medicine devoted to the study, diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle and lower leg.

We aim to provide positive foot health advice to promote independence and self-care. We offer core podiatry treatments to patients defined as high risk in order to prevent acute foot problems from developing that may result in hospital admission and possible surgical intervention.

We offer a nail surgery service at Norwich Community Hospital and St Jame's Clinic in Kings Lynn. This service offers definitive treatment for in-growing toenails, thickened or distorted nails, and traumatised and infected toes. Surgery is performed under a local anaesthetic by a podiatrist and patients will have their initial assessment and post-operative appointments at their local clinic coordinated by the podiatry team.

Referral

We accept referrals from healthcare professionals.

Eligibility

NHS podiatry services are available to patients with:

  • moderate to severe foot problems requiring professional treatment
  • a medical condition that puts the feet at high risk of foot complications

We are unable to provide treatment for patients with low clinical need, for example, those who do not have medical conditions that impact foot health and/or with minor foot problems, including social nail care.
