Clinical care is delivered jointly with the Luton and Dunstable Hospital, Keech Hospice, GPs and other professionals. We see patients in community based clinics and in their own home.
Our service focused on 2 main clinical areas:
A Macmillan community oncology clinical nurse specialist service. This service supports cancer patients with complex needs who are on a Living with and Beyond Cancer pathway, and provide access to psycho-social care within the community setting. Depending on your clinical need you will be seen at home (excluding care homes), or in a clinic at Luton Treatment Centre Vestry Close.
Central Venous Access Devices (CVADs) service. This service is supported by a CNSs and Navigator CVAD nurse. Depending on your clinical need you will be seen at home (excluding care homes), or in a clinic at Luton Treatment Centre Vestry Close.
Both of these services are supported by a consultant psychologist, family therapist and a welfare benefits advisor (where appropriate).
Please note that we are unable to see patients in care homes.
We aim to:
- provide care closer to home
- reduce non-acute avoidable hospital admissions
- develop self-management
- improve overall care experience
- promote a healthy lifestyle
- promote physical activity
- detect early signs of recurrence
