Patients, families, colleagues and partners came together on Thursday 18 June to celebrate the official opening of Pine Cottage’s new home at Colman Hospital, as part of a successful open afternoon showcasing the service’s specialist rehabilitation work.
The event offered visitors the opportunity to explore the new facilities, meet the team, and learn more about the important role Pine Cottage plays in providing specialist amputee rehabilitation. Attendees were given a closer look at the environment in which care is delivered and gained insight into the support available to patients throughout their rehabilitation journey.
A highlight of the afternoon was a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by former Pine Cottage patient Darrin, marking the opening of the new building and celebrating the service’s continued impact on patients’ lives.
The open afternoon also provided a valuable chance for staff to connect with patients and their relatives outside of the usual clinical setting, helping to strengthen relationships and highlight the impact of the service.
