Pine Cottage open afternoon celebrates move to new home

Patients, families, colleagues and partners came together on Thursday 18 June to celebrate the official opening of Pine Cottage’s new home at Colman Hospital, as part of a successful open afternoon showcasing the service’s specialist rehabilitation work.

The event offered visitors the opportunity to explore the new facilities, meet the team, and learn more about the important role Pine Cottage plays in providing specialist amputee rehabilitation. Attendees were given a closer look at the environment in which care is delivered and gained insight into the support available to patients throughout their rehabilitation journey.

A highlight of the afternoon was a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by former Pine Cottage patient Darrin, marking the opening of the new building and celebrating the service’s continued impact on patients’ lives.

The open afternoon also provided a valuable chance for staff to connect with patients and their relatives outside of the usual clinical setting, helping to strengthen relationships and highlight the impact of the service.

Emily King, Ward Manager at Pine Cottage, said: “It was wonderful to mark this important milestone for Pine Cottage and to welcome patients, relatives and colleagues into our new building. It was lovely to see so many people come together, and a great opportunity to showcase the fantastic rehabilitation work carried out by the team while celebrating the difference we make to patients’ lives.”

The move to the new premises represents an exciting step forward for the service, providing an improved environment to support high-quality care for amputee patients at the start of their rehabilitation journey.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the afternoon such a success - all donations raised will go towards new equipment for patients to use during their time at Pine Cottage.

To continue the fundraising, a “walk and wheel event” is being held at Eaton Park in Norwich on Thursday 16 July from 10am-12pm. Everyone is welcome.
