New solar panels installed at Trust sites

We are pleased to announce that we have completed further solar panel installations at North Walsham Hospital, Dereham Hospital, and Parkview. Of the nine sites to have new panels installed, we have just one further site to do at Colman Hospital.

Did you know:

  • 1,794 solar panels have been fitted at our Trust sites to date
  • The saving on electricity should exceed 805,680 kWh per year across the sites that have installed panels
  • These will result in a 130,572kg reduction in CO2e (Carbon Dioxide equivalent) per annum
  • The carbon reduction impact of this is equal to 187.8 tonnes based on the kWh saving per year (minimum)
  • The solar systems installed are supported by battery packs, where possible, to release the stored power back into the building at night. This helps make a saving on electricity too.

The panels have a 25 year warranty and are able to still produce 98% of their designed spec at 20 years. These systems are maintenance free and require very little attention except for may be a clean or two due to bird dropping or Sahara sandstorms!

“By making our buildings more energy efficient we can do more to protect the environment whilst also saving money. It means we can spend less on energy bills and more on what matters – caring for our patients and supporting our service users.” Matthew Winn, CEO
