Former Patient Publishes Book About his Recovery at the Colman Centre
Dr Steve Jones visited Jubilee House at the Colman Centre for Specialist Rehabilitation Services (CCSRS) to present copies of his book, Back from The Brink: Surviving and Thriving After Severe Traumatic Brain Injury.
The book was published exactly 8 years after Steve suffered a severe traumatic brain injury during a motorcycle accident in North Norfolk. NHS Emergency services were on the scene within six minutes. East Anglian Air Ambulance transferred Steve to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where he remained in a coma for five weeks.
Thankfully, Steve regained consciousness. Following his discharge, Steve received outpatient treatment at the CCSRS, which he credits for his excellent recovery.
In his book, Steve describes the describes the service as being ‘warm, welcoming and safe’, and the clinicians as ‘firm but fair’.

Life following a brain injury often requires adjusting to a new normal, but Steve was able to complete his PhD. He now works as a lecturer in Computer Science at the University of East Anglia.
