Could you join our growing team of volunteers?

At East of England Community Health and Care NHS Trust (EEC), our volunteers play a vital role in supporting patients, staff, and services. They bring kindness, time, and unique skills that enhance the care we provide and help us go above and beyond what our core services alone can deliver.

Volunteering can be an incredibly rewarding experience, and we’re always looking for people who want to make a real difference in their local community.

Volunteering is not about replacing paid roles. Instead, our volunteers complement the work of our teams, adding value in ways that truly matter to the people who use our services. Whether it’s offering a friendly face, supporting patients at groups or with activities, or helping behind the scenes, every contribution counts.

We are committed to making your volunteering experience positive and meaningful. You will receive all the training, guidance, and support you need to feel confident and enjoy your time with us.

Following the coming together of two organisations, our newly formed Trust now provides services across a wider area. This means there are even more opportunities to get involved and support local communities.

We offer volunteering roles across:

  • Bedfordshire and Luton
  • Cambridgeshire and Peterborough
  • Norfolk and Waveney

Here are just a few quotes from our volunteers about their experience with the Trust:

Pat, Meet & Greet Volunteer at Norwich Community Hospital

“I know it helps me as much as I hope I help people. The first impression people get as they come through the door is so important - a friendly smile and greeting can often help relieve anxieties.”

Scott, Pulmonary Rehab & Falls Team Volunteer in Luton

“I enjoy meeting and talking with the patients and the teams. Having that rapport and bond with the patients helps to make their experience more positive.”

Margaret, Ward Volunteer at Priscilla Bacon Lodge

It’s about being there for patients — having a chat, reading to them, or even doing a jigsaw. This means so much, especially for those who don’t have many visitors or who may feel lonely. Everyone at Priscilla Bacon Lodge is so friendly and supportive, and I’ve made so many new friends during my time here.
