Cambridgeshire and Peterborough physiotherapy service and Flok Health are crowned winners at the HSJ Partnership Awards 2026
Our physiotherapy service, in partnership with Flok Health, has been named Primary and Community Care Project of the Year at the HSJ Partnership Awards 2026.
The award recognises an innovative collaboration transforming access to musculoskeletal (MSK) care through an AI-powered physiotherapy service. Delivered via a smartphone app, the service provides same day, personalised assessment and treatment for back pain, marking the first large scale deployment of its kind in England.
In a 12-week pilot across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, more than 2,500 patients used the service, reducing MSK waiting times by 44% and back pain waiting lists by 55%.
Our service was the first in England to deploy Flok’s platform, the UK’s first digital musculoskeletal provider approved by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and certified under Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) regulations. Following the pilot’s success, there are plans to expand the model to reach more patients.
Mike Passfield, Deputy Director at East of England Community Health and Care NHS Trust, said: “We are thrilled to be crowned winners at the HSJ Partnership Awards. This recognition reflects what can be achieved when clinicians, digital innovators and system partners come together with a shared ambition to improve patient care and deliver smarter, more sustainable services.
A huge thank you to our teams, Flok and all of the clinicians, digital specialists and partners who helped design, test and deliver this innovative approach. Their commitment to improving musculoskeletal care and embracing new ways of working is making a real difference for patients.
This award is a testament to the power of collaboration, innovation and patient-centred care. We look forward to building on this success and continuing to transform MSK pathways for the communities we serve.”
Finn Stevenson, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Flok Health, said:
"We are incredibly proud to see our work in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough recognised with this HSJ Partnership Award. This win is a testament to what can be achieved when clinical excellence and cutting-edge technology come together to solve the NHS’s biggest challenges.
"Our pioneering work with our partners has proven that by providing patients with same-day access to high-quality MSK care, we can reduce waiting lists, ease pressure on clinicians, and ensure patients get the right care, exactly when they need it."
The awards ceremony took place at Evolution London and was hosted by Tom Davis.
